Diesel truck and bus idling causes health problems, wastes money, and is bad for the environment. The Ditching Dirty Diesel Collaborative aims to convey that message to drivers on its Tuesday, June 24 Anti-Idling Day of Action. Residents and community organizations in Oakland, Richmond, San Leandro, and Bayview Hunters Point will be taking to their neighborhood streets to hand-deliver information to truck drivers. They are driving home the message that diesel-engine idling for over five minutes is illegal, wasteful, and bad for everyone’s health, especially children and the elderly.
