Celebrate the Death of the Car Culture at the Parkway

Join Bay Localize on July 24 for an exclusive presentation of the popular cult classic Repo Man at the Parkway Theater in Oakland.

Follow a dispossessed repossession agent through mid-80s Los Angeles as he encounters aliens, CIA agents, televangelists, and car chases.  "The life of a Repo Man is always intense. But only a fool gets killed for a car."

We will mark the occasion with a celebration of the passing of American car culture and the birth of something new -- an invitation to join the growing movement for a transit-friendly, locally resilient Bay Area.

Tickets are $9.00 at the door, with $2.00 benefiting Bay Localize. We will also feature "The Real Deal: A Retro/Spective on the Automobile," a showcase of creative collages by local artivist Laura Garzon.

Take Action to Stop the Governor's Transit Cuts

Governor Schwarzenegger's latest budget would redirect $1.4 billion in public transit funds — 64% more than his January budget proposal.

Californians are feeling the pinch of rising gas prices and turning increasingly to public transportation to get them where they need to be.  Ridership is rising in the Bay Area and beyond, and many systems are already experiencing overcrowding.  This is no time to cut service or raise fares!

Contact the governor and tell him that enough is enough.  It's time to stop redirecting critical public transit funds.
