Program Description:
Connecting the Green Dots will bring together green industry leaders, local businesses, government agencies, non-profit organizations working to expand the green economy, and prospective employees of green-collar jobs. By collaborating on the Green Jobs Movement in the Bay Area, we will promote the pathways out of poverty and the higher quality of life a Green Economy brings with it. After the panel discussion with elected officials, university presidents, and green jobs leaders, representatives from Bay Area agencies and businesses will be at the Green Jobs Career Fair to discuss career and training opportunities.
Panelists will likely include:
• Peralta Colleges Chancellor Elihu Harris on Sustainable Peralta
• Congressperson Barbara Lee with a federal update
• Assemblymember Loni Hancock with a state update
• Cal State East Bay University President Mohammad Qayoumi on theuniversity role
• Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates with an East Bay Green Corridor update
• Emeryville Mayor Ken Bukowski and Emeryville Vice Mayor Ruth Atkin ongreen start-ups
• Albany Mayor Robert Lieber on the Green Chamber of Commerce
• Alameda County Sustainability Program Manager Carolyn Bloede with whatlarge businesses can do
• A representative from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
• A representative from the Ella Baker Center Green-Collar Jobs Campaignon the national Green for All movement and Bay Area pilot programs
