Communites for a Better Environment: Organizational Profile
Mission Statement:
The mission of Communities for a Better Environment is to achieve environmental health and justice by building grassroots power in and with communities of color and working-class communities.
Current Campaigns:
Northern California regional work focuses on pressuring regional governing agencies, such as the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, to adopt policies and regulations that address the cumulative effects that individual projects have when added to the effects of past, present and probable future projects. CBE is working to build community and ally forces to push for groundbreaking “cumulative impact” policy for the Bay Area.
