March for Good Jobs and Clean Air at Oakland Port

Next week, Port Commissioners will vote on the first step towards instituting a Port Trucking Policy. This is a critical vote, and we need to send a strong message to the Port to adopt a Comprehensive Clean Trucks Program that meets our community's needs.

Mayor Ron Dellums' vision for the Oakland Port includes reducing environmental impacts while stimulating sustainable development. For the past year, the Coalition for Clean and Safe Ports has been fighting for a Clean Trucks Program that makes industry responsible for cleaning the air, ends the "sweatshop on wheels" system, includes a local jobs program, and makes drivers employees rather than independent contractors.
Diesel-Polluted Air. Soaring Asthma Rates. Dead-end Jobs.

Enough is Enough! It's Time to Make the Port a Better Neighbor to All of Us
