Dear Members, Allies, and Friends:

We look forward to seeing you next Friday, March 27, for the Spring quarterly meeting -- an overview of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The ARRA aims to create jobs, restore economic growth, modernize infrastructure, enhance energy independence, expand educational opportunities, preserve and improve affordable health care, provide tax relief, and protect America's neediest groups.

To whom these federal resources will be made available and through what channels is a matter of clear concern for our local and regional work in transportation, housing, land use, and jobs. Join us as we work together to survey the landscape and consider best strategies for moving forward.

Confirmed speakers to date include:
  • April Chang, Congresswoman Barbara Lee's Office
  • Margaretta Lin, Director of the Community Economic Justice Practice at the East Bay Community Law Center & City of Oakland Fellow in the Office of Public/Private Partnerships
  • PolicyLink & Urban Habitat staff
We'll have ample time to address questions from attendees, including generating key items for follow-up on the part of speakers and/or Urban Habitat staff.

We're excited about this gathering -- and about this timely and stimulating topic that brings us together. As always, feel free to forward this message!

See you next week!
