Saving Public Transit Funding from the Governor's Axe
Urban Habitat, BOSS and members of the MTC’s Minority Citizens’ Advisory Committee joined the Transportation and Land Use Coalition (TALC), CalPIRG, AC Transit, Transitworks and others in Sacramento on Tuesday March 20th to meet with over 20 legislators about saving over $1.1 billion in funding for public transit from the chopping block in next year’s budget. Bay Area operators alone could lose over $100 million in dollars they depend on to run buses, trains and ferries. This $100 million translates into over 1 million hours of bus service. It is not too late to add your voice to the chorus of “Save the Public Transit Account for Public Transit.” For more information, please contact Lindsay@urbanhabitat.org or go to TALC’s webpage about easy ways to communicate to your legislator at: http://www.transcoalition.org/c/sus_spill/index.html#whatdo
