Mar 5: PolicyLink National Summit on Equitable Development

Regional Equity ’08: the Third National Summit on Equitable Development, Social Justice, and Smart Growth, sponsored by PolicyLink, will be held March 5-7, 2008 in New Orleans and will offer participants a venue for in-depth exploration of the groundbreaking achievements, innovative strategies, and lasting policies that connect low-income/low-wealth communities to resources and opportunity.

The agenda for the 2008 summit will include issue-based sessions, a forum for creating a regional equity movement, skills-building trainings, and regional case studies. Summit participants will include leaders and advocates from the nonprofit, public policy, philanthropy, business, and academic arenas that share a commitment to full economic and racial inclusion based on the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to participate and prosper in society.

The Social Equity Caucus and the Richmond Equitable Development Initiative (REDI) will be bringing leaders to the event to discuss their successes and challenges in their campaign.  With names like Tavis Smiley, Manuel Pastor, and Salon’s Joan Walsh leading the way, the Summit promises to be an amazing opportunity to join with more than 1,000 diverse leaders and advocates from the nonprofit, public policy, philanthropic, business, and academic arenas to commit to providing all Americans the opportunity to participate and prosper.

Registration is $265 after the deadline.  More information can be found at: www.regionalequity08.org.
