Dec. 6: Combating Gentrification and Displacement: Building a Bay Area Urban Justice Movement

Recent waves of capital flowing into San Francisco and Oakland are pushing working-class people of color out of cities, rather than supporting urban revitalization for the benefit of long-time residents. The crisis of displacement has ramifications well beyond housing. It impacts jobs, education, the environment, health care and all aspects of urban life.

Please join a dialogue led by grassroots organizers in communities of color in San Francisco and Oakland as we present innovative ideas for recreating our cities to provide housing, justice and the "Right to the City" for all residents.

Combating Gentrification and Displacement: Building a Bay Area Urban Justice Movement is a strategy session for donors. The event, sponsored by Just Cause Oakland, POWER, PODER and St. Peter's Housing Committee, will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007 from 5:30 pm -7:30 pm at the Office of Paul Hastings, 55 Second Street, 24th Floor, San Francisco, CA.

The event is FREE but sponsors will be asking for commitments of support with the goal of building a long-term community of donors and supporters. If you cannot attend but would like to support this effort, please make your donation here.

Please contact Molly at (510) 763-5877 or molly[at]justcauseoakland.org to RSVP. Light Dinner will be served.
