Dec. 8: Foreclosure Crisis and Solutions Forum
When: Saturday, December 8th at 9:30 am
Where: East Oakland Senior Center, 9255 Edes Avenue, Oakland, CA 94603
Why: ARE YOU A TENANT WHOSE BUILDING IS IN FORECLOSURE? How are you affected by the foreclosure crisis?
Tenants living in foreclosed buildings in Oakland have had their utilities shut off, even though tenants were current with their monthly rent!
Banks who own foreclosed buildings and offer tenants "cash for keys" or shut off utilities are violating Oakland's "Just Cause Eviction Ordinance"
ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT YOUR CURRENT MORTGAGE LOAN?
Did you get the home loan you wanted? Can you still afford it? Will your adjustable loan reset next year to a payment that you can't afford? Did you fully understand the terms and conditions of your home loan? Have your rates already gone up?
Join ACORN members in asking Senator Don Perata to:
- 1. Demand a state moratorium on all foreclosures
- Hold the lending industry responsible to fair practices
- Call on lenders to stop adjustable rate mortgages
- Demand lenders to perform loan workouts and remodifications
Sponsored by ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is the nation's largest community organization of low and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities.
