What's New?

We at Urban Habitat and at the Institute for Social & Environmental Justice Education extend a warm thank you for lending energy & time to the evaluation, now complete and available for download! The key findings & recommendations identified through that investigation lead directly into the Bay Area SEC Strategic Plan scheduled for release in early 2008.

At the December 7 Quarterly Meeting Urban Habitat unveiled the ambitious SEC 2008 programming to strengthen our coalition, build shared analysis & shift power around regional equity issues. Also, the SEC's Transportation Justice Working Group kicked off a series of convenings around how proposed increases in transportation costs could impact as well as potentially benefit low income communities and communities of color.

2008 is shaping up to be a great year! Some of our plans include:

  • SEC hosting a 10th Anniversary State of the Region event.
  • SEC's Steering Committee expansion to be truly regional, multi-sector, & multi-issue in scope.
  • SEC's inauguration of four local hubs to link local & regional programming, membership, & media/communications.
  • SEC website revamp with new coalition tools by our new Media & Communications Associate, former UH Office Manager Marc Caswell.
  • And much, much more...

You can find both the 2008 Strategic Plan and the TJWG presentations in our document archive.
